Planning another trip across the border to ride Lee and Cragg againn. Usually I park at Futures Park Bacup, upto Lee, ride the link, do Cragg then back down to Lee and the carpark. But I fancy a bit of a change and looking at a map it looks like I could use the Pennine Bridleway from Cragg to Cowpe for an alternative descent.

Now I like riding down the link from Cragg to Lee so my plan was to go up the PBW, ride Cragg, down the link, ride Lee then back up the link and down the PBW to Cowpe. Is this worth it? Is the descent from Cragg to Cowpe worth the slog up? And where at the bottom should I park? I don't want to wind up the locals or find my car radio missing.

Thanks

The PBW descent is good, better than the Lee / Cragg link IMO. There's a pub car park where the bridleway joins the road, think the pub shut a while back. Should be able to park there. The ascent is a bit ofa pig though. If you ride the road all the way to the top, carry on through the gate into the farmyard / scrapyard and turn left it'll bring you out on Rooley Moor road, turn right and bear right again a d it'll bring you out at Cragg, it's cheeky but I've never had any problems.

Thanks for that. Can I just confirm - are you suggesting NOT going up the actual PBW but a different way? So keep going on the road through Cowpe and up that way?

Yes, follow the road until it turns into a track into a farm yard.
