Both of us realised just a second two late, just on time to see my Terra Argo saddle flying off into the bushes.

Thought I'd got away with it but the seatpost took the brunt also 😭 I think the 100mm insertion might have saved the frame at least, and thank god it wasn't the road bike!

Oops! Hope the seat tube is OK.

Don't think a bit of T-Cut will polish that out.

realised just a second two late

so easily done, I had a very close call in a Tesco supermarket carpark a few years ago so I now stick a post-it note on the inside of my windscreen saying "BIKE ON ROOF" to remind me!

Those barriers are terrible. A lot of people miss their route in Matlock, realise that they need to turn around and the first car park on the A6 has a height barrier, a lot don’t notice until too late!

Very nearly did this a year or so ago when we set off camping with the bikes on the roof. Popped to our local Decathlon and was about to park in the main car park, then realised just before I got to the height barrier, I had two bikes on. Had to reverse and park in the 'van' section.

I was blethering with son en route to my dads house and squealed to a stop in our 12'8" campervan:

I know someone who has driven into an underground car park with bikes on the roof...twice.

When last looking for a bike rack, anything roof mounted was immediately excluded from my search for precisely these reasons.

You would think I would have learned after having to hastily remove two bikes and a boot rack with a queue of impatient traffic behind me at the entrance to a shopping centre once 🙄

Old carbon road post and Selle Italia 'gravel' saddle fitted, I might get away with this cost neutral...
