[Closed] Park Tool Chain Whip - silly design, or am I missing something?

How're you meant to use it on it's own to remove a cassette?? If you use the chainwhip to secure the cassette, you can't use the hex opening for the lockring socket, and vice versa... so you need two tools??

stoooopid... me, or the tool? 😕

that's the one... I bought it as part of a set of 2nd hand tools off here, tried using it for the first time today and suddenly realised the folly of it all...

If you're so clever why not design one tool to do the job then 🙄

I don't really get this tool. Why waste 22 quid when you can just wrap your chain round the cassette then stand it and undo the lockring?

Back in the day we had the Pamir Hypercracker which did just that 🙂

You don't need the chainwhip for tightening up the lockring nut...thats when you use the hex end with the lockring socket.

My wife bought me a Pedros Vise Whip for Christmas

I doubt I'd go back as it's much more secure to use than regular chain whip.

Take a piece of 2x2 & nail an old piece of chain to one end - there, you have the perfect chain whip
