[#1926061]

I've got a road bike and a MTB to eBay and post this week.

How do you post a bike?

I'll bubble wrap them and pack them in a bike box (cardboard jobie from the LBS)

then is it a case of taking them down to the post office as you would with any other package?

How much should it cost to post a bike, only to the UK?

Rhys.

The best and cheapest method I have found is to use a courier. I use the following website as they allow you to enter the details of the size and weight and then give you loads of different options etc.

Book and pay online. They will normal pick-up same day from your house if you book in the morning. Easy no hassle way to do it 🙂

Can also recommend the above - always on time and far easier than carting down the post office!!

I use Parcelmonkey.co.uk all the time - same as above but sometimes cheaper - it's usually Citylink who come to collect.

I can think of no better reason NOT to use them !
I don't think I've ever had a good experience with Citylink........

Do what i do and speak to your lbs nicely and ask them to post it through their account with the courier, then just pay them what it costs.

I'm doing the same for the first (and hopefully only) time, today.
Bubble-wrapped and boxed.
Spoke to local Parcelforce depot, and can drop it off there to be weighed, then pay the charge and off it goes.
If you have no car, it may be better to have courier come pick it up.

I've used Paisly Freight several times and they've always been great. Again, it's usually CityLink that do the collecting/dropping off...at my end anyway. Pretty cheap at £21:50 for a bike.

Actually I just checked that Paisley Freight site - if I entered the details manually (rather than select it as an option) it gave me a price of about £12 for a bike - not bad at all 🙂
