[#596161]

Bought a P7 frame and built it up myself using parts from old bike(s). Just wondered what cable run factory built bikes use - can anyone advise please?

FWIW the photo shows my cable run. Wondering whether the rear mech cable (er..the one in the central cable stop in photo) should really run around the other side of the headtube - can't do this at the moment, as the outer isn't quite long enough ๐Ÿ˜•

I would do as you've suggested and swap that round to the other side.

I might be misunderstading what you're saying but to me it looks like that routing would actually require a shorter cable, so you should be able to get away with it, no?

Whap the stem off, push the cable over the steerer and try it.

Oh actually, on second viewing, I see that at full right lock the cable might be pulling. Sorry, my eyes were painted on for a moment.

Yea, that's the problem - on full-ish lock it's really tight.

Good choice of frame ๐Ÿ˜€

Run the rear brake cable on the other side of the stem.

One word of warning, the paint WILL rub off over time unless you fit some lizard skin patches (or similar).

Also, if the rear brake mount starts moving under load you'll need to modify the rear dropout which involves widening one (unused) panier hole. Orange have the modified dropouts and full instructions.

Ta for the info enfht. (fortunately, I did quite well on the dropout front, as Orange had already fitted a modified 3 bolt one)
