A mate wants to know if he could sucessfully use a 200mm Manitou swinger 6 way coil shock as a replacement for a 190 mm original. I'm uncertain of the bike.

It will raise the bottom bracket and steepen the head angle; not outcomes people usually want especially if they're fitting a coil. Can't say for sure by how much but maybe as muych as one degree and half an inch on the BB?

The other issue is the length of stroke. If it is the same then there won't be any issue with the rear wheel colliding with the frame. If the stroke is also longer, then there may well be (as well as resulting in an increase in travel).

Would raise the bb and steepen the head angle so it might feel odd, but if it's just a short term solution it'd be fine.
