Need a bottle of rum that isn't horrible neat. Not much choice in my local shops, but what's this OVD stuff like? Anyone recommend any others? Ta.

Demerara Rum was a popular "punishment" drink with my uni rugby team. It definitely was horrible neat.

Its horrible. A friend brought me a big bottle when he came round for dinner as he knows I like Rum. Took me months to even get a quarter of the way down.

I like Cockspur, Appleton, Mount Gay and Havana club- all light and very easy to drink with ice/neat or with minimal mixer. I'm not a fan of dark rum as a rule.

Captain Morgan, Lambs etc is just terrible IMO.

Heres an amusing combination (my pic) 😆 but quite lovely

Brugal Extra Viejo is nice neat, complex and comparable to a decent malt in terms of enjoyment.

I have some and find it very tasty. It's a pretty intense flavour though, I love dark rum so always drink it neat or with a little ice. I don't see the point in spending £20 on a bottle of rum then mixing it with something else highly flavoured.
