I want to try an oval ring on my ss. Do I just replace the current one with an oval the same size or does the added alleged efficiency mean I can add a tooth or two?
Ta for any input.

I believe adding 2 teeth is the norm. ie. 32 round / 34 oval

I went for 36 same as my round chainring, not much different in performance/effort,just seems smoother when up hill gurning.

I went for the same (32) and it feels about right.

Went from a 30T round to 32T oval. A little harder uphill but more speed up and down due to the smoother action.

I was 34 regular and went 34/30 oval, really rate it, dropped 2 links off the chain
