Anyone use ortliebs large saddle bag. Fancy getting one of these to use on my commuter to stop me having to carry a rucksack. I don't carry a lot - tools, tubes, lunch, waterproof in summer, etc so i dont need panniers.

just received one last week -fits tools/pump/w.proof/lunch with ease, good waterproofing, closure & fitting systems take a few minutes to work out but overall nice kit - doesn't 'work' too well when partially filled though.....

In what way doesnt it work well when partially filled? Mine is likely to be less full on my ride home. Although I could take my shirt etc home every day to fill it up I suppose.

Just a bit 'flappy' that's all, the pouch has a plastic layer which helps to keep the shape OK, just need to make sure the 'roll it over' bit of the closure is rolled a bit more when empty to take up the slack as it were.
Good kit though and beats a sweaty back any day .....

Brilliant piece of kit. I use it for all day MTB rides and Enduro Races and it works a treat.

Yep, great bit of kit (for the price especially).

I use mine for quick tours between hostels, holds a long sleeve baselayer, lightweight trousers, flip-flops and toiletries.

I tend to wrap a compression strap around it and through the saddle rails, cinches it all up nicely.

i had one and wasnt a fan of it.

although it held my tools, tube, waterproof i still needed a back pack for water so defeated the purpose of only having the saddle bag.

its sat out in the garage and looking for a good home. if interested i can do a few pics?

I've got one and i've used it for MTB touring in combo' with other kit and it worked well. make sure you have enough seatpost out so it clears the rear wheel though.

Don't know what size mine is but I've just started using it again after about 5-6 years without. Carries a couple of tubes, tools, rags, lube/oil and that's about it.

The 'opening' folds up and can be kind of doubly folded up when you're carrying less stuff. It then just latches together.

Recommended if you want a waterproof method of carrying a few things, plus you really don't even notice it's there.
