has anyone tried this successfully?
I normally use an ortlieb saddlepack but have had to remove it for overnight trips away, as the excellent alpkit bag won't fit against the rails with the saddle component of the ortlieb attachment clip left insitu
This is a bit of an incovenenience , hence my thread starter
I spoke with AK who suggested posting on here

You want to put an ortlieb clip on the koala?
I would have thought some strong yanking on the koala side straps would cinch it up to almost anything...

unfortunately there's no room ,hardly , for the koala straps-I use an smp dynamic
I did this to a dry bag years ago, although I had to destroy an Ortlieb saddle pack at the time. Worked really well to carry my sleeping bag.

apparently the clip components are available as spares
what did you use as backing /stiffenting piece at the attachment zone?
I didn't use any stiffening, I didn't think it was needed the clip is a decent size and my sleeping bag was fairly light. I wouldn't have used it to carry anything weighty though, I smeared the fastenings/holes with silicon to make it watertight.

any problems/is it still in use?
I got a couple of years use out of it, but haven't been bikepacking for a few years now so couldn't really give a long term review but wouldn't expect any problems as long as it wasn't overloaded.

You could call Lion Equipment (the importers).They're exceedingly helpful.
