Following my which bike post last week, I am now seriously looking at the Five.
Being 6'2" I normally ride a 19".
But Five's only come in 18" and 20".
Unable to get to a demo/shop bike at present.
So which size?
I read that these size up pretty close together & hence someone normally on an 18" could use a 16". In that case I reckon you might be ok.
I'm 5'10", with a 34" inside leg - I ride a 20" if that helps. Any smaller and the seat post (Thomson) doesn't go high enough.
One of my friends is at least 5'10 probably more like 6ft and rides a 16"! although it does sound like you've got long legs.
I have 33" inside leg.
So sounds like a 20" for me too.
FM, I am 6ft, inside leg 33" & I have recently bought an 18". Just the job. I would strongly suggest finding one to at least sit on. From my past experience buying a bike too big (or small) can be a very expensive mistake.
If it is impossible to get to a dealer, speak to the very helpful people at Orange.
I'm 6 2 with a 34.5 inside leg and test rode the 18 on two occasions. Felt good to me although I like shorter bikes. Just make sure you can get adequate seatpost extension.
i'm 5'10 and ride the 18". i think it's quite a long bike...i'd be happier on a 16" but it was a good deal...
I am 6'2" and ride an 18" with an 80mm stem and layback post.
It was a bit cramped but felt better than the 20" which seemed too big for my liking.
FieldMarshall - Ignore what I said earlier - mine is an 18" frame. For some reason I thought it was a 20" frame.
I am 6'2" with 34" leg and have an 18" five.
My long Thompson seatpost has maybe an inch left before the 'high tide' marker, so my bike looks a bit stupid, but it feels comfortable and natural to ride.
I've never tested a 20", but it would probably suit me better - especially a longer top tube.
Got mine used - could never afford a new one - So I just feel that beggars can't be choosers. If I were you I'd go 20".
I am 6"2" I had an 18 with layback post and it was just too small, 20 was ace, 34 inside leg.On an 18 I was sitting on top of the bike, 20 and I was in the bike (If you know what I mean)
I am 6'2" with 34 inside leg- I tested the 18" and it felt too small so I ordered a 20"- it is perfect for me and I agree with duckman about being perched on the 18". Fantastic bike that I would recommend to anyone.
Hi I'm 6 ft and have 34inch inside leg. Ride an 18 inch Five with 90mm stem and layback seatpost. Find size perfect for all day rides and local playtimes. Which ever size you choose you'll enjoy.
6 foot 33 inside leg and the 18 fits a treat for me, cant say enought good things about the bike! love it.
Thanks for all the advice.
Well one thing's for sure sounds like it's a great bike.
But still unsure about the sizing.
Definitely going to need to track one down before committing.
Recently bought a Genesis IO frame off the web. After advice went for the L not XL or was it M instead of L. Anyway with hindsight I think it's too small.
Only cost £200 so not so bad.
But want to be sure with this one.
Whereabouts do you live fieldmarshall? Best to arrange a demo first.
Is there anything on here that's near to you..?

Thanks for link.
I am in hants and appear to be somewhere in between the SE & SW lists on the orange website. So have found another couple of shops that are not too far away in the SW sector.
Plus going to S Wales in 2 weekends, so may arrange a demo at Skyline.
A 5 with bar ends. Shame on you.
I'm 6'2 an 33" inside leg. My 20" 2007 5 fits me like a glove. A mate of mine has an 18" and it feels far too small for me.
I was torn between 18" or 20" on my new ST4 - happy after only a couple of rides that I went with 18", although I am right on the upper limit.
I am 6' and 33" inseam.
I'm 6ft with 34 inseam and ride an 18" (but I had to get a long seatpost). I reckon you would need a 20". (I also have a 19" gringo).
Forgot so say that if you are in North Hampshire, then Mountain Trax in near Wokingham have demo bikes and are good to deal with.
