What's the difference between Jet Black, Disco Black, Pearl Black and Cherry Black??!

Makes no difference to me in reality as I'm deciding between neon yellow or electric blue, but wondering what the diference is between the black colours!

They do a nice sparkly black with sparkly bits in.
I had this choice years ago when I wanted a car re-sprayed, 'you can have any black you like, there's about 10 different ones'.

When the marketeers have their paws on it.
Black is black. anything else is shades of gray

The 'nice sparkly black' esselgruntfuttock Mentioned is Disco black. I have it, looks sweet! The polish will go a bit and it'll lose its shine after a few rides in crappy conditions, unless you Heli-tape it

Not necessarily ...

"When a white horse is not a horse"

Disco Black is indeed a 'nice sparkly black' ... bit like a subtle suntan lotion with glitter in it ... but in a good way! ๐Ÿ˜†

Ok, thought Disco Black would be some sort of glittery finish and I imagine Jet Black is just a standard black finish...but what is Cherry Black and Pearl Black then??!...Black with red sparkles for Cherry and glossy black for Pearl????

Oddly was standing in the Orange factory on Monday looking at racks full of painted frames deciding which black to get my new front triangle sprayed. Disco black is dark and shiny. Pearl black is much ligher and has a (as the name suggests) pearly effect. Didn`t look at the other two.

Perhaps you should have. Cherry black is lovely, just had mine done in it, and I now try to wash it after every ride just so I can see it's spangly glitteryness.

When the marketeers have their paws on it.

You really are paranoid about marketers sometimes!

I believe the Jet Black is just a normal black gloss. Disco is as mentioned with sparkly bits in it. Cherry Black is unsurprisingly Black but shows a hint of very dark cherry red when the light catches it. It's not really hard to imagine that there's a lot of clever things you can do with paint and god forbid anyone want a wide choice of finishes!

It's not all. From a print perspective it still amazes me the amount of graphic designers/mac ops that don't understand the difference between different blacks.

If you want black paint non-metalic ask for pure black tinter. That's what I use on classic resprays unless anyone requests some thing different.

The others you mention are either manufacturers branding of tinted (added other colours to black tinter) black, or metalics (silver particles in the paint).

It is as simple as that..
