Hello,

I reckon the bearings/ bushings are going/gone on my Alpine, I lift it up and there is a slight bit of play in the back and im pretty sure it isnt coming from the wheel.

So Mechanical experts I have checked out what pivot bearings I need and can buy them from Orange direct but they are £15. Does anyone have any cheeky websites or hints where I can get the same bearings but cheaper?

Also what about the bushings? Where do I get those from? How much?

Ta very much!

Nick

I'd be having a good luck at the bush at the end of the shock first. Take the shck to a good LBS and they will stick one in for about a fiver.

Orange bearings tend to last very well. Is the movement up-and-down or side-to-side?

+1 for checking the shock bushings.
Lift the back end up while holding around the shock bush area and see if you can feel any movement.
Had the same thing on my Hustler.
Better to rule it out first before going to the full expense of new bearings

As above, Check Du (eyelet bushes) first, the spacers may not have worn.
I can supply full kits Dus and spacers (both end) £12.50 or £7 per end, or du's on there own £ £1.50 each. But you will need the DU tool to replace them, you can use the socket vice method but I don't recommend it as you can damage the eyelet of the shock which will cost alot to replace.

Double-check that the pivot bolts aren't just coming loose as well. Mine come loose all the time.

Most bearing suppliers will sort you out for a fraction of Orange's prices. I use a place in Croydon - £3.50 each.

Loco will sell them to you himself, he's got a big bag of 'em on his workbench.Fitting tool is essentially a stepped rod that fits into the bush and presses on it's end, and a sleeve that the bush then slides into when it's pushed through. As Loco says, you can do this with the correct sized sockets, but the potential for damage is much greater.

Is there not a life time bearing available like what Whyte bikes use?
