[#5307276]

Im going to be taking the outer ring off my triple crankset and replacing with a bash guard.

I've read on the Orange website not to use a middle ring bigger than 32 (i think, maybe it was 34) but what does this mean bash guard wise.

My middle ring is a 34 now so i was going to get a 36 bash so if needed i can lump upto a 36 chainring.

Will a 36t bash foul the swing arm? Should i just get a 32/34 bash?

Thanks

the issue was with a 36 ring on a double set up as it can (not always due to tolerances ) foul the chain against the back face of the swing arm pivot bearing, the bash will not be a prob here its the chain as the front mech moves it up. I ran a 24 -36 bash set up for about 2 years and it was fine but it was close, 22-34 bash should be no probs.

cool, cheers mate. I'll go for the 34 for now and see how it feels.

Wiggle have the Hope guard for under £25 with a voucher i have so seems like a bargain.

pigeonthing is correct. The tolerance issue is between middle ring and pivot bearing clamp. Bash size is irrelevant.
Use the smallest bash that you can to protect the middle ring.

Running a 22/36 plus bash on the 5, no issues at all.
