OK, done a search, not found anything recent

just changing frames over from a '11 Yeti 575 to a '12 Orange 5 (wanted something a bit lower/longer/slacker so it fits the brief)
thought it would be an easy swap over, but oh no
according to Orange you CANNOT run a dedicated 2x10 crank as the big ring fouls the pivot
anyone successfully fitted one, was going to put my SRAM XO 26/39 set on

also

it also seems like you are limited on size of chainring if running a 1x set up, i have another bike which runs 1x10 using 36t/11-36.

can you put a 36t ring on a 5 or does it hit the pivot

again, anyone done it?

ta

I have a friend running a Zee single ring crnkset, I'll ask what ring size he runs

Dunno about 2x10 but i run a 2x9 set up using a 36/22 front rings, i had a 26t granny on before and that did foul the pivot when changing up at the front but since i changed it to a 22t it's been fine. It's a bit of trial and error really.

I thought the Five AM had a double and bash set up??

I am interested in this also, it appears from the FAQs on their website they fit triples and remove the outer ring for bash guards/guides? I am thinking of getting one but fancied an XT double chainset on it, is this not possible?

Trevor.

I looked into this a while ago when building 2x10 on mine, using a triple with big ring removed.

The general consensus I gathered from multiple forum threads was that a 34 would fit fine but with a 36 there would be a very slight fouling of the pivot (by the chain) when changing down to the granny. This slight fouling normally disappeared after a short time using it as it wore a little bit off the pivot arm (nothing dangerous). Possibly a BB spacer could solve it but you risk the chain line being funky.

If building a 1x10 then a 36 would be fine because of no front shifting.

thanks for all that.
was considering a direct swap over and fitting my 28/39 SRAM XO cranks, but i don't think it's possible
good news on the 36 single ring though, will probably go with that

I thought you could by a Five with a double up front? It use to be in the options/upgrades list with a Gamut Bash Guard.

...I found exactly this, so I stuck an extra spacer in as suggested and it's all been fine.

You wouldn't get anything bigger than 36 as a 2 ring set up though, you might single ring but given a want to ride up as well as down I've never tried.

I have a 2011 five Pro and am on 1x10 for ages 36 up front and 36/12 on the back. No issue with rubbing and also have a Sunline V1 chain guide fitted again with no rubbing issues.

Update
26/39 SRAM dedicated 2x10 XO cranks work fine,
3 hour ride today, heaps of climbing and descending, never lost or dropped the chain, never fouled the main pivot

even using an old 9x3 speed deore front mech (i'll get around to ordering a 'proper' 2x some time....)

wonder why Orange says they don't work?
