At short notice I am wifeless and childless thu fir and sat. I'm keen to go and have an adventure on my bike maybe start Friday and either a big day or an overnighter.
I'm based in Edinburgh and have wheels.
As a newbie to the area anyone got any nice routes, very happy in the hills alone as I am an ex search and rescue person so have plenty of gear and emergency gear. Additionally if anyone wants to join me then that would be lovely. I was thinking maybe something out of Blair atholl area or maybe more west ?
For mtb satisfaction you could always camp around Peebles, 3 days of Glentress/Inners/'off piste' trails. Good food and beer in evenings too. Just a thought.

Yeah do the Cairngorms loop out of Blair Atholl. 2-3 days worth with a few bothies and towns on the way.
edit: I just clicked the link. Depending how much time/fitness/enjoyment you want - just do the outer loop. You'll work it out. Bothies in Glen Feshie and Ryvoan Pass amongst others.
