Any Cotic Rocket owners on here got any opinions/reviews of how the frame handles? it looks a little daintier than many of its all mountain competitors, how do they descend?

I've only demo'd one. It made me want one, a LOT. Then they ran out of stock and aren't going to be back for a couple more months yet so I had to get something else. If I had the money I'd buy one as soon as they have them in.

One thing it is not is dainty.

Yup. Very happy owner. Does not do dainty in any sense of the word, descends jolly well indeed, handles just like you'd expect it to, given the numbers. Goes up pretty effectively too. I have to come up with a jolly good reason to NOT ride it and ride one of my other bikes instead.

The only thing holding me back from pre-ordering a Rocket frame atm, is the Kona Process 153. The Kona's a lot of a good bike for the money (~2.6k). Not sure how easy it would be to match the spec for the price building a Rocket.
The news of the new Rocket frames being available with CCDB Air Climb Switch shock is interesting. Weight wise the Kona will be heavier but I'm not sure how much of that is just down to the slightly larger wheel size.

It goes up and along pretty well. Way better than you would expect given the numbers. Point it downwards though and it turns into a proper hooligan. Very composed on the steep stuff. It eggs you on to go that little bit faster. The most fun trail bike I've ever owned. Pedals really well also, it doesn't wallow in it's travel like some longer travel bikes. Here's mine. It now has X Fusion Slants rather than Lyriks. The Slants seem to suit the bike a little better.

Oh, and you guys have just reminded me one of the other reasons, I haven't pre-ordered yet, as they don't list black. Only Orange and Green. If I got a rocket I'd like it to be a subtle/stealthy beast in black.

Obviously with the Kona I don't have that option, it's frame is orange and the rear triangle is black, which actually works rather well I think.

If the new Rocket frames are being made in the UK would it not be possible to buy a bare frame and get it sprayed black or any other colour you fancy??

For those with rp23 shocks on their rockets.

- what compression and rebound tube do they run? M/M?

Why would economies of scale and efficiencies of 'mass' production ( which give you good pricing) be any different?

because they are currently made in batches and then sold.

ie they order 100 orange, 100 green.

If you want an unpainted one you would have to wait until the next batch which could be months away.

When they make them in the UK I doubt they will hold a huge amount of stock so much easier to say "please don't send mine to the paint shop".

It's a lovely bike. It was that or a Nicolai Helius AC for me and while the Nicolai is definitely better finished and so on it just wasn't as much fun to ride. The Rocket feels like a get you into trouble bike and the Nicola was a get you out of trouble bike if you see the difference.

Anyone got one who used to have a Hustler? Have new frame itch and they are local to me, so would like to support them especially as they are now made up the road too.

Looks very similar geo wise though. Actually same seat and head angles if run with a 140mm fork which I would be swapping over - chain stays look within 3mm and same with effective TT.

Just wondering if it'll be really much different and worth swapping, weight I'd imagine will be pretty similar and I'd be swapping over everything bar seat post.

I used to own a Hustler and demo'd a Rocket. Much preferred the Rocket - didn't feel so heavy, pedalled better, felt more stable. IMO.
