Hope brakes are awesome, I doubt you know what you're on about. They have a big fanbase on this forum for instance, upto 4 people (2 of them are the same person) have said they are the best brakes you can get. I think you just need to buy some spare parts for them to get them to work. You cant do that with shimanos, you'll be knackered.

They are better. You will prefer them. I await your next vider for verbal audiovisual confirmation which will be viewed as irrefutable fact by the collective.

If I may, 10spd sram is just poor now. Even xx imo feels substandard to good old 9spd x0. Shimano all the way. Even deore is a solid, good feeling and very robust system now. Out of them all I'd go for XT,plus it'd match your brakes, and you have the opiton of the friction clutch rear mech. Minimise rattle, chain drop, noise etc. XTR only at the minute but it'll be filtering down to other groupsets soon. Sram as usual are playing catch up.

The fluid cylinders look massive on the XT brakes, unless its the angle of the twitpic.

I quite like mine, but the lever body is the ugliest bike part I have seen for a long, long time - massive bulbous lump of shiny fake chrome.

my new xtr trail brakes are POWERFUL...........

however, the OEM pads [with fins] are short lived.............

ceramic SS pads to be installed once the trails dry out......

way more power than Hopes, but cheaper in every manufacturing and aesthetic regard...........

Ditto on the oem fins dying a death in a rather prompt time! Mine looks blinger than a rappers 'grill', but have crumbled into the ether.....

Running SS sintered at the mo - stoptastic...

Hi Tony, sorry to hear you rid of the hopes. Hope the xt gives you what you're looking for. Also curious to know what your plans are for the v2.
