My beloved T5 T30 has an auto tipronic box.
The box has bust and its going to cost lots and lots and lots and lots 😥
just thought you should know.
Guessing it's a 2.5 130 or 174? Not an unknown problem with these the torque seems to be more than the gearbox really likes.
I its a 130. is there a better solution than just fitting like for like?
Fit a recon manual?*
*really, I know nothing of repairing VW vans, but I reckon there are pleny of specialist who would give you sound advice.
yeah got a few days to sort it so i will ring around in the morning.
i am thinking a new one should be ok as its gone from being a plumbers van (only 70k on it though) to just me and some bikes so i dont reckon it will need to pull anything heavy often.
While weight won't help from what i know it's not the big problem. 174's are worse for it certainly as they have even more torque. What's acutally wrong with it? I'd get it to a proper auto specialist to look at and get an opinion.
You could probably do a manual conversion but i bet it's a nightmare to do with the various electrics, sensors etc.
