.... for a small rider, think 30kg of 8yr old who races CX and closed circuit crits, would 35mm deep wheels (max allowed by BC) be beneficial over say a lighter 24mm deep wheel given same wheel and tyre width?

He averages 28-32kph on the crit racing on flat'ish circuits.

I know in general for this kind of application aero trumps weight, but given that he's narrower than his 320mm wide bars and can get really low, other than looks, would they offer tangible benefits?

Also I'm thinking about the effects of cross winds also, given his weight.

I know nothing about this apart from the aero section alledgedly collects less mud, so may make a lighter mid-race wheelset!

Also a 30kg 8yr old racing this sort of thing makes me really happy! Top parenting and top offspring!

He's been at it since he was 4! His 5(nearly 6) year old brother does too 👍🏻
