[#5007501]

I'd not long been set off from home in Cirencester this morning, driving to work, when I saw a chap pushing his bike along the road in the opposite direction. I slowed and wound down my window to check he was okay and if he needed a lift.

Anyhoo, long story short, he was supposed to be riding to Leicester(!) to pick up a minibus-cum-mobile-science-lab (he's a teacher). He'd punctured early on, used his spare tube, punctured again and discovered that the glue in his repair kit had gone off.

Well, I couldn't really take him to Leicester, but I did take him and his bike back to mine where he was able to make use of a track pump and a spare tube of mine, and I dug out another tube and some repair glue just in case. He gave me a tenner for it all, which I didn't really want, but he was pretty insistent.

So, Ben, good luck, hope the rest of the journey is less eventful.

I'd woken up in a bit of a foul mood as well, and being able to help someone out has cheered me up no end. It's nice to be nice, innit?

Is this a euphemism?

Not at all. I just let him in my back gate and then let him pump away.

I was more concerned about the minibus-cum-mobile.

Well, no, I got his used rubber too, because with a bit of TLC I'll be able to use it again myself.

Preying on the vulnerable - disgusting. Do you just cruise around looking for cyclists in trouble?

Punctured bicycle
On a hillside desolate
Will nature make a man of me yet ?

When in this charming car
This charming man

Why pamper life's complexity
When the leather runs smooth
On the passenger seat ?

I would go out tonight
But I haven't got a stitch to wear
This man said "it's gruesome
That someone so handsome should care"

Ah ! A jumped-up pantry boy
Who never knew his place
He said "return the ring"
He knows so much about these things
He knows so much about these things
