Most roadies will give you the nod, but it will probably be too subtle for most, finger wag, slight nod of head tilt.

+1

Most of the rif-raf buying road bikes because some bloke who wears nice suits and has sideburns won a race last year haven't figured out what their neck is for and spend their lives gazeing at their front wheel (this also explains why they need pimpy aero wheels, something nice to look at). The other guy probably saw you, aknowlaged your presance with a subtle greeting, and is now wondeing why the guy he passed was riding the aero bike downhill on the tops.

Although in reality unlike the OP probably didn't give a shit.

The envy on here is getting more prevalent, there was at least 5 replies before the token Audi comment surfaced...... ๐Ÿ˜†

I would like to thank the two young roadies who yelled encouragement from their Octavia Estate (with bikes on the roof) then offered me a draft into the horrible headwind on Saturday - they made a sad, fat old giffer feel like a pro for those few minutes ๐Ÿ™‚

I nod and/or say hi to anybody on two wheels, it comes from years of motorcycling and the subtle helmet tilt 'nod' exchanged by bikers....rarely get ignored and if i do then so what?!....repeat after me: its just a hobby, its just a hobby....

When I had a Land Rover and frequented LR fora there were always complaints by drivers of proper "square" landies about the drivers of Discos, Rangies and Freelanders who failed to acknowledge.

The opposite occours for MG's,

Anything A/B/C/midget with chrome bumpers nod to each other
B/midget with rubber bumpers, only the snobbiest of chrome bumper owners will refuse to aknowlage them.
F/TF are a grey area.

ZR/ZS/ZT usualy nod at 'propper' MG's but rarely aknowlaged.
