Looking at these,
Schwalbe Nobby Nic Evo Folding Tyre 2.25
Are they current spec on job lot of old stock.
What are they like. How wide are they in reality.
2010 model rather than 2011, and the Nobby Nics seem to be a slightly different design than usual - I think because they are a design made for bike manufacturers (the Racing Ralph I got on the other hand was boxed normal stock).
I find that Schwalbe sizes tend to be pretty genuine, but the quoted weights are little inaccurate. I run a Nobby Nic up front and Ralph out the back, and happy with that last year in 2.1". Gone to 2.25" this year, but not ridden them yet.
Just a very fine hair short of 2.25, on my 819s. Light, grippy in most conditions, fast rolling. I likes 'em. But they don't seem that tough, and they're way worse than I'd expected in mud. Still good though.
i bough fat alberts - they're just brilliant in evolution form 🙂
Wasn't sure whether to run NN front and back or NN front and RR back.
Any thoughts.
NN front RR back is fine except in the mud - the RR doesn't clear mud terribly well. If you are worried about ripping sidewalls, get the Double Defense version (although On-One don't have many left).
Careful on the Double Defense ones - they ride like solid tyres...

And they are tubeless ready, which I am now aware ids different from ust tubeless. I know as they wouldnt fit on a UST rim at all. Aparently Tubeless Ready is good if you have a stans strip or similar fitted. As such, I have two of these up for grabs at a better price than the on-one price... if your interested...
I'm interested if the OP isn't.
How much are we talking?
I ran the 2.1 Nobby Nic evo tyre for almost a year, it works really well in most conditions. I was really happy. However, I run my tyres at fairly low pressures and I actually wore out the side wall where it rubbed on the rim. Last weekend it finglly gave way and a huge rip appeared followed by a loud bang as the tube exploded. Not great....
I'm now on Bonty mud x's and they are jreat (with very strong side walls!!)
Oh, and they are 2.1" wide measured across the carcasss (not the knobbles)
I'm using 2.1 Double Defense, set-up tubeless, on Stans Crest rims.
I think they're pretty good, certainly seem capable on my local Bristol trails which are more mud than anything else right now.
Silentsl...
2 x Nobby Nic, Snake skin, 26 x 2.4 now unavailable on the On - One website. They ask £24 each free postage.
To you, both together £40 posted. Completely new, unfitted and tubeless jizz free. I just need to get some cash back... all my bikes are tubeless.
pm me if interested..your first dibs.
If Dave E dont take them rick i probably will mate my email is tony18@hotmail.co.uk
Give dave first refusal though only fair 😀
How come you can't get them to mount? I've got a tubeless ready NN, went fine onto my Flows and 819s. Very tight but it went.
That said, if by some miracle you still have them for sale I'll have em at the asking price 😉
Is Dave E silentsl....
Tony, your second dibs.. thanks mate.
Wouldnt go on to Crossmax ST tubeless. Even with a compressor. I think the bed of the rim is different. Believe me, I tried damn hard to get them on...
(BTW the ones I tried fitting are sold. these are brand new unused).
Seem good tyres but certainly wouldn't buy at full retail price, nothing any different from a £20 maxxis in terms of quality or performance. Goes onto Stans crest really easily here.
Rickmeister.
Would be interested in Tyres if not allready gone.
Email me details.
Thanks Rick, I've got Crossmax ST's so I think it might be best to give these a miss If they've caused you trouble before. 2.4 is probably a little on the large size for me anyway.
Thanks anyway.
Dave E, ygm...
Sold all being well to Dave E... any changes and I will look back to this thread.
Thanks
Got a set of the evo NN's from on-one, cannot run them tubeless as the sidewalls are like sponges, when I tried to inflate them it looked like a foam party in my garage, as regards size, they seem very small for 2.25's
I couldn't get my on-one NN's to inflate, though found a better presta valve adapter later for my compressor, but by then I'd cleaned the stan's out and fitted tubes, so couldn't be bothered to try again...
Votchy, I had that with Mud-x's, found the best option was to let out some of the pressure & lay them on the side to seal the sidewall, then swap over to the other side.Thread about it.. (though the stans wasn't coming out the sidewall, it should still work)
The snakeskin versions are great for tubeless, as well as being tougher for a few more grams. I had no problems inflating, no sealant leak out and lose 5-10 psi between weekends.

"Got a set of the evo NN's from on-one, cannot run them tubeless as the sidewalls are like sponges"
I'm running an evo NN (non-snakeskin) from On One as tubeless, no bother.
On one podgy Alberts here (on 819's). Could only get them to blow up after a visit to the local car tyre depot with their industrial sized compressor, and even that was a struggle. Now they're up they are fine, don't leak at all from the sidewalls and don't seem to lose any pressure. Did over 60 miles on them this week-end no bother
but - certainly won't be changing them in a hurry. Maxxis Ignitor UST before i used to blow up with a track pump

can only assume from that then that schwalbe's quality control is awful
