[#3886211]

Having bought a new Inbred vertical dropout frame just last week, I was hit with a shot of adrenaline when I saw the "dirty dozen" email drop into my inbox and then quickly scrolled down to find my frame reduced by 30% to £139.99.

Got straight on the phone to chance my arm and was told that no it would not be honoured. Which I can totally understand, its a business at the end of the day.

However when I said well can I send the frame back and buy another one, I was told yes I am within my rights to do that. So I asked well can we not just cut out all of the I send it back just for you to post me another one and they're going to get back to me.

What are everyone's opinions? I was happy to pay £199.99 and still think that is good value, but just abit 'miffed' that only a few days later I could of had it 60 quid cheaper. Is that just life?

I bought my Inbred at £525 and it was reduced to £400 shortly after.

I rode it for years and had great time on it, until it got nicked. (I bought a replacement.)

Did I get angsty, because I could have had all those good times for 20% less money? No.

You could send it back.

And then try and buy it again at the cheaper price.

If they have it in stock.

They may just decide to sell it someone else ?

Yeh - but if you were clever you'd have already bought the cheaper replacement before you kicked off

£60.

How much do you value your time, or their's for that matter - is it really an amount to get 'miffed' over?

FFS, build the bike up and get out on it.

Not even £60 as it would cost to send it back.

OP...suck it up. Since when did sale prices become retrospective?

I do wonder about the legal angle, if you return something under DSR, only to buy it again at a cheaper price...you haven't truly changed your mind.

Suggest you get a tissue, dry your eyes and stop bleating. I believe the term tough luck fits here somewhere.

Still you should buy the ss inbred, it's lighter than it's vertical drop out counter part

So - you buy the cheaper one - and then send back the original. You thought you wanted two, but changed your mind 😉

I have a SS inbred and love it and wanted a vertical dropout one. (Yes i know you can put gears on the SS but dont want the hassle of switching back and forth all the time)

Wind your neck, im asking for opinions not sympathy mate. 8)

Is it not the point of DSR that you don't need to have a reason to return?

So for example, if a company was to include a 'money of next purchase' voucher in with your order, it would be quite easy to order the item again using the voucher and then return the original order for a full refund. 😉

Virtually all products get reduced at some point, so this happens to everyone at some point. It's just one of those things - you would have been happy if you hadn't got the mail about the price reduction, so really it's not a big deal - think of it this way: you're letting one email upset you.

But that £60 could protect a childs face from a lunging Rottweiler...

No harm in asking. I've bought an item before only to see it reduced a few days later. Took it back and the shop (Currys IIRC) was quite happy to just refund me the difference, they put it through as a refund and re-sale but I didn't actually hand anything back.

60 quid is 60 quid. Would you rather it was in your pocket or someone elses? If they say no then at least you asked.

I bought a C456 at £299.

Now it's £249.

Strangely the thought that went through my head was "do I need a spare?"

you can't expect someone to give you the difference to save the time. It's like customers coming into shop and asking to match the web price "but I can just order it online for that price???" - SO GO AND DO IT???

It completely defeats the object. Yes everyone who bought one in the last week could send them back. But is the time worth it? The hassle? End of the day, no.

Was just about to post that many retail stores these days offer to refund the difference in price if you buy an item then its price goes down within 7 days of purchase. Of course, it's totally at the discretion of that individual company, but having worked briefly for PC World (same company as Currys) in the past, who have a very similar pricing strategy to On One (ie. get em all in, charge full whack for a week or two, then knock 30% off), I can tell you it DEFINITELY stops a whole lot of angry customers in the long run...

Totally up to the discretion of On One though of course. No harm in asking. Though of course, if they do say no, no point in getting down about it as you were happy to pay the price at the time (though it amazed me working in retail how upset people would get if the price in your store was so much as even £1 more than a competitor, they'd then spend £10 in fuel to then drive to and back to save their £1).

Hope you get the £60 quid back mate. You could then get an Apollo from Halfords and swap the bits off the On One onto the Apollo frame. 😉

I would have bought another frame there and then and sent the original one back. You will probably find that by the time they "get back" to you the frame will be out of stock.

Although the fact that I'm on a downer with |On One / Planet X means that I wouldn't have bought the frame from them at any price

If you can take the hit - order the cheaper frame and send the original back.

If not, put it down to one of life lesson's and enjoy the ride.

*wonder if the Co-op will give me the difference between the loaf of bread i bought at £1.40 and the discounted loaf 2 hours later of 60p...

why don't you ask for £60 worth of stuff or a discount (of £60) off another order.

That way you both save on postage, and they get to sell some more stuff.

nb: I thought I would add, they are decent people, and have always been really good with any issues I've had.

If you don't ask, you don't get. No harm in trying, the worst they can say is "No".

DAMIT!

I was just debating whether to get a 456evo and now the 456c is on sale, grrrrrrrrr. On the one hand I had a 456 and sold it so there must have been a reason, the evo would be different, the carbon would be lighter, wonder if I wait a while there'll be a 456EvoC, or even better/cheeper Scandal456Evo?

Things always get better with revisions.

Right now, a 456C with a Slackset is pretty close to a 456Evo especially in 16 and 18in sizes. The 20in is a bit further off, but still ace.

I've got a drawing here, which I want to go straight to production on, but don't have the balls.
So I'll sample it.

What size head tube though? I think 44mm.

Is 44mm taking off? Obviously v versatile but doesn't seem to be a vast choice of headsets yet.
