[Closed] On-One Dirty Harry/Lurcher

I'm thinking of purchasing an on-one dirty harry or lurcher (both 29er) but am undecided on which one. Moreover, from speaking to on-one it is likely that I am probably a 21.5 inch/X large but as I am 6'2" I may be happy on a size down. At present I am planning to go to Rotherham to try out the sizes and make the choice over which bike (though I'm siding towards the lurcher on appearance alone as otherwise they are very similar) but that's one hell of a trek and I'd rather avoid it. If anyone has any advice in this respect (maybe even if they have either size or these bikes and are in the Cardiff area and are willing to let me try it for size) I would be very greatful.

I was siding towards the Dirty Harry on appearance alone!

Personally I prefer the spec of the Dirty Harry: they are both the same price, fairly similar geometry, same max fork length but DH is lighter and doesn't require me buying a pressfit BB or direct mount front mech.

Good points. It's also not the first time I've heard someone criticise the apperance of the Lurcher.

I thought:

Lurcher = light trail hardtail
Race29 = race bike
Dirty Harry = race bike, but even lighter/steeper

Really tempted by a DH at the moment.

By 'steeper' you mean steeper angles is that right? Meaning a more agressive riding position?

I was wrong, the DH is actualy slacker (by a degree in the HA), I must have been sucked in by the marketing blurb.

Still tempted by a DH though for the summer.

Nope...geometry given for the Lurcher is based on sagged 80mm fork and it says underneath "Slackens around 1 degree static with 80mm fork" which would then make it the same as the DH which has it's geometry listed based on a static 80mm fork.

I gather they are very similar. I want something fast but not so agressive that it would make a long ride uncomfortable. I may get stuck into a 12hr solo and if it's too aggresive it will break me.

I've got a Swift which IIRC has a 72 HA with the rigid fork, no problems on long rides, 29ers don't feel twitchy like 26ers do (IMO), at higher speed it feels more stable due to the heavier wheels, at low speeds they feel manouverable as they're steep.

Just my 2p.

Only reason I want a DH is to save a shed load of weight over the Swift.

Bump. Any more thoughts on this? Did anyone buy a dirty Harry?
