I'm thinking of buying a 456 14" for my wife and sticking my old Pace forks on there. Will it be too twitchy running 100mm forks?
The standard Inbred could be a better bet especially as I wouldn't have to buy disk brakes, but the 456 is available in pink... ๐Ÿ˜‰
Cheers!

Works fine for me on a 3 year old one. They may have changed the design.

std inbred is lighter too

456 is burly and pretty heavy. Unless she's one radical dude then it'll be weight she won't really need.

Get a second hand standard inbred powdercoated.
Replacement decals are available on ebay.

I used to run my 456 with 105mm Magura Ronin's. Was okay, but I changed the frame to a standard Inbred as it was cheaper than new forks and it was loads better

I'd get a normal Inbred for 100mm forks

I would second the inbred route for purely 100mm forks if you are choosing between the steel frames. But that is mainly due to the weight saving and extra give in the Inbred over the 456.

I have a 100-130mm fork on my carbon 456 and at 100mm it is absolutely great. Really not twitchy and perfect for XC use so I leave it there most of the time. In fact because the top tubes are nice and long it actually feels like more of an XC whippet at 100mm (I don't mean the whippet frame as not tried that).

I ran 100mm on mine and it was fine.

Is a scandal an option in pink? Nice and light which will really make a difference unless she is already a fit rider.

My gf runs one with 100mm rebas on it. She loves it, and it runs fine.

Used to run my Prince Albert at 95mm a lot of the time and thought it handled better if I'm honest.

OK, cool. Thanks for the replies. I don't know why but for some reason I thought the Inbred was the heavier frame.

If the pink frame is out then we're free to look for other small frame alternatives, an aluminium Kona or similar.. Hmm..
