Last SRAM chain I had nearly cost me the ability to father children!  I stick with Shimano now.

as mentioned on the hard drive thread, bathtub curve, if it's going to go it will generally either happen at the start or of old age.

I did a full club ride and a few commutes with a chain that kept clicking and making scary noises  When I eventually got round to looking at it I discovered that one side of a link had broken off, leaving it connected on one side only.

I was gobsmacked at the strength differential between the side that snapped and the side that did over a hundred miles on its own.

Must get better at bike maintenance
