I'd take the bikes as it's only a matter of time before they're on Ebay....
So there really is nowt around Clacton for off road riding 🙁

Where are you starting from?
If you're coming from the west/ north, stop @ Thetford (try Brandon Country Park as your starting point).
From the south, you could try around Danbury, just off the A12. I grew up there, and haven't ridden there for years, but it was always fun bombing around the common on bikes as a teenager. (it's probably crap, but that's nostalgia for you).
redthunder iam in Brightlingsea just 5min away from clacton going out to friday woods and a few other woods nearby on sunday morning your welcome to tag along don't go at a fast pace so should take 2/3 hours.
