Fine, no booze whatever.

As a non-violent protest and with it being the Sally Army maybe the spectators should partake in some mutual tromboning.

Taxi25....I take it you like being treated like a 5 year old and being told what to do by religous organisations ? Now that is pathetic. What has enjoying an outdoor event in the sunshine, with a beer or two ( if you choose ) got anything to do with binge drinking ( whatever that is ) ?

I take it you've been to an airport before, do you get upset if they say you cant take something with you? (ether in or out of the country)

The SA position is due to their connection with the temperance movement, which has a long history in the UK not the christian aspect of the SA.

They are afterall a Christian church, so it makes sense not to serve alcohol on the land.

Was that a serious comment ?

If so, you clearly know very little about the subject, and maybe shouldn't have bothered.

Blood of Christ in Christian theology refers to (a) the physical blood actually shed by Jesus Christ from the foreskin and later on the Cross, and the salvation which Christianity teaches was accomplished thereby; and (b) the sacramental blood present in the Eucharist, which is considered by Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and Lutheran Christians to be the same blood of Christ shed on the Cross. The Catholic Church, as well as the Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Anglican, and Lutheran churches, believe that in the Eucharist, the faithful receive Jesus' literal blood under the species of wine.

An easy mistake to make, no?

Not sure I know what you mean, I wasn't talking about communion wine.

Simply that most Christian churches have no issue with alcohol.

dont think it matters about who owns the land Olympic policy no more than 100ml of liquid in clear bottle allowed in stadiums/parks. (enforced at st james park for Olympic football at weekend) was like going through airport security, everything out of pockets, placed in clear bag and frisked.

This is something that is really starting to grate about mountain biking, drinking. more and more it seems riding is an excuse to go to the pub rather than go for a ride.

Don't go to Gent.

perfectly aware that 6day racing is a piss-up.

more annoyed that people are complaining that they can't have a drink on some land, one it won't kill you, two it is there land so if they don't want you drinking that is there choice.

My thoughts exactly!

I take it you've been to an airport before, do you get upset if they say you cant take something with you? (ether in or out of the country)

+1, I'll stand by my pathetic comment that Taxi's throwing his toys out the pram because of the nasty fascists saying he can't have a drink. Bet you get annoyed that you can't buy alcohol at 11pm on a Sunday too!?

Isn't XC racing kind of like baseball? It's only when you're forced to watch it sober you realise how ****ing boring it is?

Wrong quote, sorry.

presume you meant mine, (ex)CoE here, they don't believe in all that transubstantiation wiffle. But if you believe transubstantiation does occur it begs the question why can't you just use corporation pop instead, or vimto, or how about a bit of red bull keep you awake during sermons - or if it's a catholic church a friend used to go to I'm sure some alka seltzer would be appreciated by much of the congregation on a sunday morning.

Back on topic I think it might be football's fault, for a while everyone went to the pub to watch the national sport and got pissed doing so. As a result beer & (watching) sport have become synonymous.

Get a grip njee20 ! Did you jump out of bed wanting to start this up again ?
Who said anything about taking anything anywhere ? We all know. You can't take your own drink into olympic venus. But once inside a beer is generally available to those adults who want one. Not at the mtb event though, for no reason other than the SA imposing their morality on 40,000 other people.
I think thats a shame, you think its ok. Why is it that I can live with you having an opinion but you struggle to respect mine ?

You can have an opinion but you can't do what you want on someone else's land.

What happenes when an STW'er goes to a bike shop or trail center that doesn't have an alcohol licence? Or is this why CRC are popular, we can drink and buy bike bits at the same time?

And you think I need to get a grip? Jesus, get over yourself!

Do you want to be able to have sex in the Olympic park too? I imagine that's not allowed. Perhaps do some heroin down the pub? Yes, this communist state truly is absurd with the things they won't allow.

Don't tell the SA!

Realise I mis-read Taxi's last post, didn't read the comma in the bit I quoted, which changes the meaning somewhat. I'll leave what I put though, as we seem to be going off on that tangent!
