UPDATE: Reviews section refreshed, redesigned, searchable: Go take a look
Have a 36 which is a 2015/16 model, has the old air spring that went between 160/170/180 using travel spacers
Would like to run it 140 or 150, and I have a more recent 140 air shaft (maybe 4/5 years old)
Anyone know if the newer shaft will work?
No, it's a completely different air spring arrangement, not retro fittable... Fox completely changed the air spring design to use different lengths, rather than travel spacers, for the 2019 (iirc) model year (NA1 shaft), and then updated the shaft again for the 2022 model year (NA2 shaft)... Then for 2026 came the NA3 "Glidecore" air shaft, which is retrofittable on older forks back to 2022 model year (but not before)...
But you can't put an NA type air shaft in an older fork with the travel spacer arrangement...
yeah, was thinking even if it fitted, the dimples for equalising are in different positions which would probably mess it up.
cheers, saved me pulling it all apart and reassembling for nothing
