๐ฏ ๐ฏ ๐ฏSlog to Dunkery
Just had a look on an OS map. Ouch!!!
dont worry we aint doing the lonnnnnnng slog to the top of Dunkery this time.
only if you order me a pair of bollox !!!!
CG think the ascent of Dunkery isn't on the agenda ๐ or ๐
according to your point of view .But we have replaced it with some corking singletrack and descending .Hope thats ok ?
Put me down as a "yes"..
Will check with Roge' the traffic light man and confirm.
Do you mind if some "strange folk" tag along for the ride ??
bobsoff course all welcome come on down !
just a reminder boys and girls be there or be well you know ! ๐
Mr Youngfart - are we having cream tea at the usual place? Presumably you will need to pre-order? Fish and chips on the beach again? Please ... no s****ing like last year at the beached whales ๐ฏ
Dare I ask about tyres? Am currently running Maxxis Medusa 1.8's - will they be OK?
Really looking forward to this. 8)
CG cream tea at usual place ?If the lady has reopened , she did say it was weather dependent .So will be phoning her as forecast isn't great :cry:which kind of impacts on the beach eating at the end as well .(i didn't mean eat the beach though one or two last year looked like they had ! :D)
spiked tyres for snow and ice CG, judging by the forecast
Chunky mud tyres and crud-guards I reckon - gonna be fun!
never mind what tyres ......more like what cake to bring ๐
Humm interesting ๐ฏ
Hi was down there last week bit of advice dont bother with the BW from Brockwell to Luccombe then the Rupp up to Webbers post both a mess.Dunkrey down to Brockwell running find at the end you get nice RED Tyres.Top of the beacon fine.Alot of surface water about.Grabbist was in better nick the two BWs down to Dunster running dryish.BW down into Wootton Courtenay bit messy nr the end.The BW around Sweetworthy is very muddy in places alot more Exmoor ponies up there nowadays.Have fun.Took me a while to clean bike after a few rides.
dobie cheers for the info .
Are my 1.8's going to be too skinny?
My bikes don't like mudguards - spoils the lines. ๐
Hi there i might come along as well if i can please.I'm camping over at Porlock over the Easter holidays so it would be nice to ride with some other people rather than on my own.Been up over the tops today and aimed to go over Dunkery Beacon but couldn't make because of the snow, some of the drifts were knee deep and that was still a way from the summit.Oh, and iv'e only got Racing Ralphs as well...
Hmmm..... I'm also camping at Porlock this weekend, might just have to ask the relevent permission granters about this and pop along for a pootle.
Just called in McDonalds in Minehead for a quick McWee, and it would seem that the public car park is no more!!!
Urgh.. so err... is there still a mahoosive carpark across the road like on google?
OR.... is there a contingency plan?
So ... is this an all day buffet or a bike ride? Wot, no McDonalds now?
OLDFART TO THE FORUM PERLEAZE!
We need to be told where to abandon our vehicles.
Am trying to get a message to him!
Will anyone be taking a gps? If so, could they please e-mail the eventual gpx route sometime. Mount doesn't want to keep the gps in place and prefers to throw it off. ๐ฟ
C-G
I will bring mine. 8)
dont panic there are other parking options ,
Well I think there are other car parks near Butlins so if the one we used before is gone, I'll go there and ride over to McD's.

Hope the weather holds - this afternoon was pretty nice, if a bit cool.
The Warren Road CP looks to be on the same street as McDonalds, just a bit closer to the seafront.
More importantly, are there any news on the cake situation? Are we on code red yet?
Don't panic everyone as Mr K said .I obviously wasn't aware the car park is no more .So putting on my i'm in charge hat let's all meet at the McD car park for 930 .I'll get there before and sort out the alternative's .There is that o.k ?
Headless chickens stand down now !
All it means is charges will be a bit dearer . ๐
Just looking at info linky they are all a fiver so the nearest one to the original will do the trick .I'm guessing the station car park .OR free parking round the industrial estate / Pompys cycles area .Fear not i will check it out and report back tomorrow at Mc Ds car park . ๐
Phew, I was just about to go to bed so I can sleep well knowing that McDonalds is the place to be. ๐
judderman - thank you. 8)
Local folk - has the snow gone?
if anyones lost or running late call me on 07866500258 , we wouldnt like to leave anyone behind.
Yep, snow has gone but very soggy up there on Thursday!
There's plenty of free parking on the industrial site just round the corner from Pompeys cycles (about 2 mins from McDees) HERE
Have a good one folks (I'll be getting soaked up a mountain in Wales ๐ )
I am afraid I wont make it tomorrow, have a good ride all and hope weather is good.
