I ordered 2 Shimano Brake olives to shorten some brake hoses - they sent me 2 packs of 10.

I've still got them.

They sent me a wee rubber gaiter for a USE seatpost once. It's still in my desk drawer ten years later.

I think you will find my local shop are very happy with my custom 3 bikes in 2 years and 2 wheel builds and 20% discount on most things in the shop. 🙂

And they buy stuff from CRC 😉

A whole cargo bike. I ordered 1 Kona MinUte and got sent 2.

1 was returned, albeit after much messing around as I wasn't prepared to take a day off work to wait for the courier and fix their mistake whilst they don't have a courier that picks up on weekends.

In fact, they were meant to send me some vouchers in thanks and never did.

Many metres of SP40 order 2m get 3
Shifters
Brake pads
Sunglasses
Socks
Jockey wheels

As above I contacted them each time and they said keep them it's too much trouble to send them back

Similar with Wiggle although not as frequent but they sent me a time bomb discount code for my honesty

A SRAM front mech. Quite a good one IIRC. I emailed them, they sent me a return label, and then a few days later a £10 voucher code with a thanks for my honesty.

Tell them since youve left your name and email address on your profile? Not to hard for them to see this thread and then see who you are.

Karma will come back and bite.....

Cheap wired maxxis beavr 29 ordered, got sent 3c shorty 650b downhill for a £10.... Mate had also ordered the same and got a shorty dh.

Maybe job loss speculation is having an affect on a few workers.

I got 1 26er and 1 29er rim when I ordered a pair of 29er rims. I told them, as the 26er rim was no use for the 29er I was building.

(To be fair to them they sent out a replacement straight away and I sent the 26er back at my leisure)

Look at it this way - you have got an extra item because of an error by a member of staff.

That staff member is probably traceable, and could be disciplined or even lose his/her job if you bring the mistake to CRC's attention.

Do you want that on your conscience?

Not CRC but Amazon sent me an expensive wallpaper steamer instead of a bottle of malt whisky 👿

After a lot of wasted breath, they finally refunded me and told me to keep the steamer. Anyone want a wallpaper steamer?

Screwfix once sent me 4 large boxes of basic electrical stuff, back boxes and the like on top of my order. I let them know, I think they sent me a £10 voucher. Got the collection arranged for the 4 boxes of extra stuff. Courier turns up to collect one box, told him there were 4 (which I'd told Srewfix), courier was adamant he could only take one as that was what his paperwork said. Couldn't be bothered chasing Screwfix again, kept some of it, gave the rest to my neighbour to sell in his electrical shop rather than bin it.

I ordered a solar battery maintainer for 19.99 off eBay......It never came after 2 weeks and I went on holiday.

When I came home I found a 99.99 battery analyser/charger and recovery.

Contacted them to let them know I got the wrong item and to come collect it....They never replied.

That was months ago.

Got sent a fairly expensive road jersey in place of a fairly cheap Bmx hub (the jersey was twice the price of the hub). I emailed them to ask what to do, and it was as though I'd made it all up - they wanted photos of all the packaging etc. It then took them days to get back to me and eventually agreed to resend the hub on condition I returned the jersey. Fair enough, but a little "thanks for your honesty" would've gone down well.

I've almost run out of the huge pile of stainless cable inners they sent me in about 2011. I did tell them, but they said "meh". I'd ordered 4 IIRC and the picker presumably just went, 1, 2, MANY.

Ordered a basic MRP chainguide for the big bike, aluminium backplate, cheap guides etc. Got the one I ordered and a blingy carbon fibre one too!

Told them and they said to keep it as it was a discontinued model. Sold it on Ebay for £80 IIRC.

Back in the olden days, before interwebz shopping, I placed an order with one of the places that used to put full page adverts in the mags, some tyres, tubes, and a couple of other bits. They sent some of the order, but not all. A couple of days later the rest of the order came, plus a pair of blue Sidi Dominator shoes, in my size.
Sorry. 😳

The warehouse guys are all getting paid off later this year, doubt the customer support will care either although that bit is staying where it is currently.

Not CRC, but similar tale. Bought a bass guitar off Ebay, never turned up (Hermes 'lost' it twice), seller got the insurance and I got my money back.

About 4 months later, after being at away at work for a month I came home to find that my wife had put 'some big package with, I presume, another bloody bike thing in it' in the garage... One guitar for free. Miraculously, despite the packaging being smashed to bits the guitar was unmarked.

I had a big order from Merlin arrive twice, I did the right thing to let them know. I got promised discount on my next order, rather predictably when I wanted to buy new forks a little while later, they couldn't remember anything about it.

I had a £10 pair of socks which were supposed to go do some one in America, and yes I told them as I'd ordered something worth a couple of hundred in the sale (can't remember what as it was about 10yrs ago). Unfortunately it was the last one in the sale and they couldn't send me another - got a full refund.
Couldn't help bit think at the time how happy the American chap must have been when he opened his box.

I ordered a set of FSA Wing drop bars from an online retailer, the alloy ones. I was sent the Carbon ones which were £250 rather than the £50 I had spent on the alloy ones. I rang up straight away and told them and they said I could keep them. I was gobsmacked but very chuffed as I really wanted the Carbon ones but couldn't afford them. Still got them as they are the comfiest drop bars ever.

Planet X sent me a pedal once. I assumed that pedals came in pairs but there was only one in the box. They gave me a refund and told me I could keep it.
Still got a time atac xc6 pedal. Think it's a left 🙂

I did hear about a picking mistake in one of the big retailers where instead of customers being shipped one puncture repair kit they were shipped the bulk box which (lets for sake of comedy) contained 100 puncture repair kits.
Maybe it was only 10. But anyhow.

This went on for some considerable time apparently.

I remember this happening in other mail order things too. I knew someone who got 8 mugs instead of 1.

And someone once shipped me 24 tiny plastic storage boxes to PX when I worked there (the first time).
