When ever bikes get featured on the G.show - they are the last feature .. meaning you have to sit through a load of stupid geek crap before you get to see some bike porn.

Reminds me of that Eurotrash program .. nudee bits always got put at the end of the show so you had to watch men in penguin suits and german midgets drinking beer for 30 mins

I was Embarrassed to watch that, noticed they didn't give one away in the give-away.

I wonder if the kayak enthusiasts were cringeing at the kayak segment as much as we were over the £5k DH race bike being ridden along a bridleway.
.
I loved the way they were wearing full DH pajama armour and full face helmets for cycling on a pavement with a bit of gravel on.

Fair point, but why did they then go and choose such a pricey bike? That will only put people off mountain biking if joe public thinks you have to buy a five grand bike and body armour to wobble your way down a shallow slope.

I thought it was pretty toecurling telly. I think I've walked that trail and I could have done it faster on my Dahon folder.

But they could still attempt to test things in a vaguely appropriate way. Why a downhill bike?

It was so hardcore. Loved the way she shredded that gnarly looking green trail SITTING DOWN. Radical.

As already said, advertising stuff, didn't anyone else notice the Orange 5 that the guy who handed out the challenge was on?

Orange did - they did a Facebook message on it earlier. What a coincidence.

hmmm.......just a little overkill me thinks.

However it was very scientific in proving that it's a show for gadget fans who are............."retarded/think/stupid/-insert applicable insult-"
(lets face it - it is sponsored by Dixons!)

I now believe there is such a thing as bad press!

I did indeed. Seems a strange choice for Orange though. Can't imagine they sold too many 224s as a result of that sequence. Still, I guess it 'gets the brand out there', etc. Still pretty embarassing for all concerned.

completely and utterly shocking I do agree..

the trail that she took the 224evo down looked like a green trail.. but its actually part of the World Cup XC course and rougher than the show makes out.
However a 224 overkill is an understatement.
That overall trail is fantastic, the speed you can get up to and features in it, its a red trail.
a decent Hardtail is good down it, my 5 is fantastic down it.

Well I quite enjoyed that. What did you expect, Suzi doing 20ft drops ?

Couple of gems from Ortis

when riding a scooter - "the name of the game is momentum, keep it pointing downhill and it flies"

and

to Suzi Perry "I will have you on that mountain"

Funny, I was thinking along those lines myself !

I only watch it to keep a breadth of some tech - it is one big advert.

Gadget Show Definition: 3 manufacturers (or just Dixons) give the gadget show 3 somewhat similar products they want to sell. Gadget show tries to come up with an idea to [s]sell them[/s] [s]advertise them[/s] review them. These products are usually not comparable as they have very different specs. End result - a bad 10 minute advert trying to compare 3 incomparable often expensive gadgets that masquerades as a programme then ending in a section on gambling to raise money to pay for the gadgets reviewed and given away as prizes.

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhahahahahahahaha

Sorry, but I could have gone down that hill faster on my wife's old Apollo X.26. I shouldn't laugh, but when Suzi said that the name of the game was no "energy conservation" as she dawdled down that track, I had to laugh.

haha, ****ing terrible. "and believe me, this is very bumpy" as she pootles down something that looks straight from the cannock blue run.

You may scoff, but you can be sure that some muppet will go out and buy one and then sign up for Mayhem with a load of his mates. I imagine all these people to be merchant bankers.

What is wrong with that?

If it encourages more people to go out and buy a bike, especially women, then surely that is a good thing. I have actually seen more women on bikes in the last week on my local trails than ever.

BTW it is easy to mock Ms Perry but presumably she is not a regular rider and bear in mind that
a. She probably had to wear 'all the gear' for insurance purposes as well as product placement.
b. TV makes everything look less steep/slower, which is one of the reasons womens DH is often akin to watching paint dry.

Lovely that. Looks almost as good as the scooter Otis was riding!

People think Top Gear is funny. Now that sequence in the Gadget Show beat it by miles! 😆

(Personally I thought the few sections of the track she was riding on the Orange that they showed, looked pretty good. The helmet cam footage was of flat stuff probably cos the bumpy stuff didn't come out too well ❓ )

LOL @ Foxyrider

At the risk of being too nice, I really like the concept of that LifeCycle. I could cycle the 11 miles to work on a regular basis as the main drawback is it's a slight uphill most of the way with one serious hill which means a shower is essential on arrival and the alarm clock set for 4.30AM!

Pity it doesn't come in at under £1k for the CTW scheme.
