[#6741868]

Hi all,
I have been looking at BB height alot recently and have measured my Five AM at 355mm.
I assume the 36 fork at 160mm has raised the BB by a bit, and wondered if offset bushings would bring it back down to somewhere near the original height?
Has anyone here done anything similar, and if so what were the pros/cons that you experienced?
My only thought at the moment is that it would kick out the HA to about 65 deg - not that i have found 66 deg to be a problem.

Thanks,
Si

Maybe not exactly what you wanted but I fitted offsets to my bike and it did lower the b/b height. However, they squeaked interminably so I took them off.

I fitted some from OFFSETBUSHINGS.com and they freaked for about 4 rides and then have been silent since that. And they're £10 each so cheaper than other brands of you're experimenting.

Only reason I swapped them out (after 6 months) because I got a new shock and they went with the old one. Worked really well with my Orange Alline 160 and I currently have a pair of Burgtec Ti ones in that cost a lot more but don't sem to any better than the cheaper ones. I also fitted a Works -1 degree headset and am loving the extra (just over) 2 degrees of combines slackness that that they produce (currently measured at 64 degrees) and not hindered the climbing but improved (the already great) descending.

355mm isnt that high. For reference the specialized enduro is 351, Yeti SB6c is 345.

Fitted ti one's to my Lapierre. (6mm either end) so the bb height measure's 8mm less.

Oneyof my brass ones only lasted a month, but was a loose fit from new. They will also slacken the seat tube angle, more noticeable than the bb drop ime.

Hi Guys,

I'm Jeron from OffsetBushings.com - we have sold tonnes for Orange 5's over the years with great feedback from customers! For £20 with free 1st class UK postage you can't really go wrong.

Every set is made to order so we can machine them for any bike you like. Our bushings are precision machined from brass in Asia to 0.005mm tolerances for a perfect fit. Quite a while ago we had used stock machined brass rod, since changing to a new supplier we have had 0 issues reported. Since then we have sold thousands of bushings. So we're very confident in our product!

You can order online easily at www.offsetbushings.com

Hope that helps guys, if you have any questions please get in touch - I'm not sure how often I'll be on here however I'm afraid.

Have a great New Year!

Jeron

That. I got a pair a while back for my FSR. Top one wore and was replaced by Offsetbushings, and had no issues since. Would recommend.

I have used the offsetbushings on 3 bikes. Never a problem and a great way to slacken the front, lower the bb and as far as my understanding goes they steepen the seat tube angle.

Mbnut, you might want to think about why you can't slacken the front or your bike and steepen the back at the same time with these 🙂
It's nothing that 2mins of moving your saddle to compensate wouldn't fix anyway

I've used offsetbushings on a couple of bikes. First set on the Zesty were absolutely fine during a week in the alps but the second set on my Covert developed play in the lower bushing during the first days alps riding.

Cheap as chips but next time I'll be looking at getting something a bit more durable.

The bushings arrived this week. Good service from offset bushings.com .
BB now roughly sits at 348 mm ish. HA looks to be silly slack -guessing about 65 deg.
Crap local conditions mean that a meaningful test needs to wait for a bit, but I can't wait to try them out.
Might help my dodgy skills take me a couple of places higher in the Hamsterley Enduro in Feb . .
