Some time last year I bought a pair of Goretex Adidas Terrex shoes for walking in, but have ended up using them on my bike over the winter in place of my Five Tens.
Brilliant grip on the pedals and when pushing, great fit, sturdy sole, waterproof and warm. Highly recommended, so much so that I might ditch my Five Tens.

I bought shoes for walking up hills in summer as boots aren't always necessary, and as mentioned they're great on the bike. Can't vouch for boots on the bike.

These are the ones most people seem to be wearing for biking

I am wearing a shiny new pair of these. Much cheapness and comfort, Continental rubber sole. 8) They are not as stiff as a cycle shoe though, although not Salmon flexible and soft either.
