Any one got any training schedules for this type of event, or good duathlon training schedules in any shape or form.
Cheers
I just ran lots more than usual, as had the riding fitness already. Which one are you aiming at?
Started off running 2-3 times a week in the evenings, building upto around 6 miles at a decent pace.
For a later one (Coed y Brenin) I did saome more hill interval work as it was a hillier course than some.
not got any in mind specifically, i already do a bit of running, just wondering what the balnace should be between cycling and running really
Run and ride off road until it's comfortable. Though if you've not run for a bit take it easy, sometimes the first day seems fine whilst youre out then you can't walk for a week afterwards.
I assume it's not mega distance.
Last thing I ever won outright was a duathlon, not my cuppa tea though.
It depends on what your strengths are really. If you place higher up the field with your bike splits then run more, and vice versa. Lots of brick sessions (bike-run or run-bike-run) would be good, and the runs don't necessarily need to be long - just a few miles to get you used to transitioning between the two.
go running immediately before/after riding. distance and intensity should be geared towards the race. for me i would run short/hard when combined with riding and do a longer moderate paced run only once a week.
