I did my first duathlon this morning. 3k run followed by 10k MTB (although a cross bike would have been quicker) and another 3k run. It was a beautiful crisp, sunny morning, a friendly atmosphere and really good fun. Tougher than I expected, and I managed a face first dismount into the only slop on the course, but great fun. I think I might be hooked.

Anyone else doing this sort of thing?

No, as I'm injured ๐Ÿ˜ฅ would be otherwise.

They do seem to attract the more easy going racers, even at the competitive end.

Which one have you just done?

This was a new one at Fritton Lake near Gt Yarmouth. I'm going to have a crack at a longer one in Thetford Forest in a few weeks time.

It was really chilled. Some serious triathletes, but not that many quick MTB racers - not that I'm one of those either, but it was a bit of a leveller.

just back from a "on-Road" duathlon - 2mile run 10mile bike 2 mile run.

Its always the 2nd run that hurts the most.

Its all good fun though, did an off road one a couple of weeks ago in the snow, which was great..

Yes, it's funny coming off the bike and "running" off on wobbly legs. I haven't seen the split times yet, but it will be amusing to compare the two runs.

Another off road duathlon for me today - there is a nice wee series at Glentress which keeps me fit over the winter. Long race today so 13km bike followed by 10km run at Glentress. Although I don't hugely enjoy running, it is good to mix it up a bit over winter, and as noted above, you tend to get a good relaxed crowd for these things.
