Does anyone know if Oakley make lens for their Radar glasses that are both Photochromic AND Hydrophobic? My LBS say 'no' but I've a couple of pals who claim they do! The Oakley website seems to suggest that ALL the radar lens are Hydrophobic?
The other option is to get the Photochromic lens and then buy Oakleys aftermarket Nanoclear cleaner kit which seemingly adds a Hydrophobic coating to the lens. Anyone used this pen?
I'd heard they were going to the stick instead of adding hydrophobic coating. My Jawbone photochromic lenses don't seem to be hydrophobic, which supports what your LBS have said.
I use the pen on mine, it's not great though. Only lasts a ride or two (given I generally need to clean them anyway after that time) and although it's definitely hyrdophobic I wouldn't say it's any better than other cheaper stuff you can get for visor etc.
Turns out the Hydrophobic coating IS on the new Radar Photochromic lens. I called Oakley UK and they confirmed.
However they also said that all their Hydrophobic coatings are not permanent...you need to buy the pen and re-apply the coating every 2ish months!
Hydromatic...
I'd agree with that, certainly my lenses aren't nearly as good as when new.
I've got some VR50 photochromic Radars and they were definitely hydrophobic to start with. Less so now but I've got the pen and use that to refresh it.
