As a Varifocal wearer(and optician), I was keen to get my hands on a pair of these since they were released in the summer, so I was very pleased to be given a pair to try out.
The idea is to give a good distance correction in the head forward riding position, low peripheral distortion, clear vision just in front of your front wheel, and the ability to see a cycle computer/GPS, mobile etc.
I opted for a Racing Jacket with vented transitions iridium coated lenses ( I don't normally like transitions, but these are going to have to be used in all light conditions as I can't afford to buy lots of pairs of different coloured lenses)
Verdict..... Generally very good. Very little distortion, and everything was in focus that was meant to be. The venting was very effective as long as you keep moving.
Overall I would be happy to recommend these if your'e in the same position as me, ie can't wear contacts, cant read the mobile when the missus is trying to track me down etc. Ordinary specs won't give suitable protection and reading zones are set up quite differently than the Oakleys.
