[Closed] N/W - any benefit on a 9spd chain?

For some reason, my wife's 1x9 chain drops, even with a Blackspire chain thingy (although, the guide is for 2xX).

Will a N/W chainring benefit it?

I have a spare chainring although have lost the self extracting screw for the Raceface crankset so removing it takes a lot of swearing and banging with a rubber mallet!

Thanks

Should help, yes.

Can you undo the chainring bolts and slip the chainring off over the crank? Works sometimes depending on cranks

I ran a NW on a 9spd setup, didn't drop the chain. For £20 it has to be worth a go assuming chain and cassette aren't worn.

No. I can't get the chainring on without 'removing' the crank.

It's free as I have the ring - just the 45 mins it takes banging and smacking the bike.

Thanks both

I've not found a single ring chainring I couldn't get round the arms of my Atlas cranks (9spd era). Smallest would have been a 32 that I've done it with. They take a bit of jiggling and pedal might need to come off.

My Hope and Salsa n/w rings have been fine for chain retention btw.
