It's that time when I have to replace my collection of nasty water bottles. I have been looking non plastic options but I cannot seem to find a metal traditional looking water bottle option which will fit in a bottle cage.

Has anyone got a lead on what I'm look for? I found a sigg one which almost fot the bill but at 750ml it's going to be too big to fit on my bikes.

A point in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Most of the mouth fittings are the same size on sigg bottles. Can you not the the top and a smaller sigg bottle?

What about a metal bottle and metal cage. Titanium King Cages always look pretty

I got this 650mm metal bottle from Elite at my LBS a while back: https://www.bikeparts.co.uk/products/elite-mia-stainless-steel-bottle-650-ml-black?

So nice not to have water tasting of plastic and tucks in nicely to a small frame.

The decathlon sigg a likes fit bottle cages

Likewise kleen kanteen bottles also fit. Stw shop sells these .

Why don't you want plastic? it's lighter - even if it doesn't matter at point of use it matters for manufacturing and shipping, it's easier to clean, more damage resistant in so much as it doesn't dent when dropped and assuming you get a recycled and recyclable bottle (which you then actually recycle) has a much lower impact than ss which has a slightly higher footprint than plastic /Mt largely because plastic tends to be single use, because people are idiots, and ss is largely largely recycled. Virgin footprint for steel per Mt is quite a bit higher, it's also disingenuous using Mt because it tends to weigh significantly more for the same application, per m^3 the footprint for ss is massively higher as its about 8 times the density of hdpu.

More to the point what's wrong with the existing ones because you f the answer isn't "they leak" assuming you're preference for metal is its better for the environment replacing them at all is massively worse than sticking the existing ones in Milton for a bit and using them for another year.

Elite SYSSA Race fits the bill of the OP.

Elite Deboyo Race is the thermally insulated version.

Both share the same cap/mouthpiece, which has a decent crud protector.

My Sigg one fits perfectly in a bottle cage. 750ml, stainless steel. or do you mean too tall?

That doesn't look like it fits very perfect. I mean its in there but not as the cage was designed.

Re using stainless over plastic. - the plastic taints and plain water goes gross pretty quickly especially on a warm day. If I'm drinking juice I use camelback insulated podiums.

If it's water I'll use a stainless bottle all day long. Flavour free. Likewise -my coffee doesn't go in plastic lined travel cups -you always end up with it taking the flavour of yesteryears coffee.

Top tip for stainless if you do somehow get shit stuck to it that taints the taste (I left a black coffee half drunk in mine over Xmas holidays once and it stained it brown) is chuck in a whole dishwasher tablet and boiling water. Fully stripped if where scrubbing and fairy liquid failed miserably.

The decathlon one above is brilliant. I’ve used them for a year no probs. Love the high flow from them due to the air tube that’s built into the lid and the mud protection lid is good too.

A whole tablet for one bottle seems a lot.

Cafetto Evo espresso machine cleaner for the stainless steel flask cleaning win. Half a scoop. Soak overnight. Gentle scrub with Camelbak ‘bog brush’.

I imagine that baking soda might work too.

Yeah, I've used my STW Clean Canteen one as a bottle on occasion, but it doesn't have the recess for the clip on the cage so not ideal.

That decathlon one is a stone cold bargain, might get a couple if those next time I need some replacements.
