Got back from the Pyrenees last month, and I spent all week fettling with my rear air pressure, but never got full travel. Nukeproof Reactor 130mm. Fox Float DPX2, Factory Series.
First thing I checked was letting all the air out. Yes, the wheel hits the frame!
I tried between 220 and 250 psi. The only way to get nearly full travel was to have 40%+ sag.
The riding was pretty full on (Ainsa Zona Zero) and I wasn't hanging about.
I had the shock serviced with JTech before I went. I guess I need to play with volume spacers....?
Do you know how many Vol Spacers it has ?
What's the recommended sag for the frame ? Some are more or less than other frames.
Why not run it at 40% sag ? Is it sitting too low in the travel ?
Less volume spacers would be the answer, or just ride it harder.
Do you know you're not getting full travel? Wheel hitting frame is worrying
What stroke shock have you got fitted? Reactor takes a 210x50mm shock. This is the same shock as 210x55mm shock just with a travel spacer fitted, so you wouldn't expect the o ring to reach the end of the shock. Caveat to this is I don't know what markings your shock will have on it.
Pretty sure the rear wheel shouldn't be contacting the frame with all the air out - if it is then I'd be grateful that you're not getting full travel!
OK, it's not hitting the frame but with the air out, but the shock gets full travel.ย
Guess I need to open it up this evening and check the spacers...
DPX2 in my experience feel/ride quite soft in the initial stroke anyway.
The thing to consider is...
Did it ride ok? Did you feel like you were short of travel, or just going by markings?ย
If it's the latter, I wouldn't worry about it
