CX bike dilemmas.
My CX life started life on one of the very early Kinesis Pro6 framesets. Lovely, lightweight frameset at a sensible price. Over time though, the bottle bosses got knackered and it became evidence the tyre clearance isn't fantastic in Scottish mud. I also now fancy slightly wider tyres outside of CX season (for things like the Dirty Reiver).
The Pro6 frameset was therefore swapped for a Kinesis AT. This was great on paper but less great in real life. I haven't weighed the frameset but it is noticeably heavier than the Pro6 so not great for CX racing. The pointy top tube is also not great for shouldering. The plus point is that it can take big tyre, so has been quite nice for local loops out of CX season, where it handles the rough estate tracks round here a bit better than 33mm tyres.
I am therefore regretting my Tripster AT decision and looking for a frameset with the weight of the Pro6 or lighter, but the ability to take 38mm tyres.
On paper the Ibis Hakka MX looks lovely but it is a lot of money (unless there are any fantastic deals around). What else is out there that is genuinely lightweight but can comfortably take 38mm tyres?
(PS - the Stigmata is probably also a bit spendy and the On-One Space Chicken looks okay but I don't like the brand or the colours).
