Having spent an age weighing up various 29r LT trail bikes its looking like both of these are now jostling for pole position.
Which would you pick and why?
I picked the Sight all be it the aluminum version and I'm waiting for mine to be delivered. I went for the 2018 one for a discounted price on Evans thanks to it still having the pike and 11 Speed XT, it seemed generally well kitted. Just need to put the brakes on it from the current bike and maybe a tougher wheelset for my weight.
I've never regretted getting my Jeffsy. Spec was ridiculously good for the money (2016 CF Pro) but more importantly the bike is just so capable. It can do anything except maybe full-on downhill and isn't bad at anything. It climbs brilliantly and is even ok as an XC bike, but is totally confidence inspiring and fun on the more gnarr trails.
Love my Jeffsy. Got the 2017 CF Pro frame and then built from there. 150 Lyrik forks make it great fun. Same as onewheelgod said - it'll never be full on DH or even flat out enduro but more bike than i'll ever need.

I, too, love my Jeffsy. 29er CF flavour, use it for trail riding in my local forests and have clattered it, unskilled, down bike parks in the Alps. It's very very capable. Mine now has a coil shock on, but is otherwise largely stock.
As an update to this, avoid ordering anything from Evans. Nothing but incompetent liars when it comes to customer service.

I do only seem to be able to find Norco on Evans, do they have exclusivity now?
I picked my Sight up from the Cardiff store, didn't realize until after the first ride that the cap for the valve on the Pike was missing (they take them off in the shop as people seem to be removing them from the stock bikes)
Called them up and got one in the post two days later, pretty good in my view.
The only place you can get Norco in the UK is Evans
I was pretty much set on the Sight C2 29er, largely on the strength of the Bike Magazine "Bible of Bike Tests" review. They were pretty glowing about it.
I also remember that a previous year's addition reviewed that year's incarnation of the Jeffsy, which was also very positive. Not sure how much the current model differs.

I went with something else in the end, as the Sight was sold out in my size.

Not sure how much it matters in the real world but Jeff29 has quite old school geometry; shortish top tube etc. Jeff27.5 has the updated geo
I’ve also heard mixed (mostly negative tbh) reports about Norco and spares availability, whereas even for a direct seller YT are supposed to be pretty good.
The component spec on YTs puts most manufacturers to shame, although their reliance on shoddy Race Face stuff can be an issue because it seems to fall apart a lot.
edit- allthough the RaceFace warranties are managed in the U.K. by Silverfish, who are very good ime
What's the budget? So many decent 29ers about now, it's possible to choose the geometry and ride feel that you want.
Any reason the AM9 isn't an option??
