More than likely I have to buy some new yellow Tape (see classifieds!). Would it be better to buy the rim strip instead, I've no idea which is better...?

What rim? If Stans, just need yellow tape whether a UST tyre or not. If a non tubeless rim like a Mavic 719, you can use normal rim tape or yellow tape and then a rim strip.

If it's a Stans ZTR rim you can use only yellow tape. If it's anything else Stans recommend you use yellow tape + rim strip. Yellow tape on it's own is better if you can get it to work as it's lighter and cheaper.

DT470's and WTB TCS rims are also ok with just tape.
