Not an effort to do a Realman, but blimey what a stage today. More like the deciding climb of a TdeF not the first real stage of a "build-up" race. One for the Wiggins fanbois and Froome haters to watch and ponder, more aggressive attacking racing from Froome in one stage than an entire tour of Wiggins. Contador back to his snake-hipped dancing-on-the-pedals best, both looked like they really wanted it and are well matched. Top rides from Talansky and Kelderman, and Nibali fighting hard to stay a contender. Porte appeared to ask froome for permission to ease off, hopefully not a sign of something more significant.

On Eurosport again tonight, or the critical last few kms here

Will give it a watch, was following on Twitter. Be interesting to see how Porte fairs through the week and if his form is TdF worthy. Sky have so many top quality climbers that they'll fill a TdF squad no worries.

I've always thought Froome a more attacking and generally better rider, much prefer watching epic climbers too. Can't watch the video, did he get the better of contador? Not much of a fan, and liked seeing Froome outdo him in last year's tour...

Cheers for the Youtube link, will have a watch of that later. Even if I have seen the result, and the wrong man won the stage ๐Ÿ™

Thanks, Great stuff - will make for a very interesting tour...I reckon Wiggins would have struggled to be in the top 5...

Brilliant to see (As the BBC always points out) Kenyan born Froome, attacking and taking the race to Bertie in a way that Wiggins never did (or could). Great riding from Wilco too, he'll be a real threat to the podium in the tour if he can keep this sort of form up. Interesting to see Nibali struggling a bit. Reckon he'll be riding into form though so wouldn't discount him yet.

Can't ride like that too many times!

BTW, anyone create a Velogames fantasy team? I did but they didn't give much notice.

It was a spectacular watch really. Not used to the big hitters going after each other at the start of a race. Great stuff
