I like(d) Nirvana a lot, but their recorded stuff always lacked that last few % to me.

First time I've seen / heard this - it's superb. Nirvana as they should sound.

Blimey they really are a bloody good band. Easy to forget that sometimes these days with all the stuff that happened.

The crowd look a bit tame - I still have problems with my neck following a stage diving incident!

Saw them supporting the mighty Mudhoney (and TAD I think) at the Astoria, then later a couple of times - don't remember them being that tight though!

To todays 20 year olds this is as relevant as glam rock

Feel old?

I prefer to think it's as relevant as punk.

Yes.

However, Smells like teen spirit was playing in a clothes shops recently I was in with my 12 year old daughter (she'd just bought a pair of purple Doc Martin boots - I was really rather proud :-)) and she wanted to know what / who it was as it sounded cool....

No. But if punk was the reponse to ridiculous overblown prog/glam ****ery, grunge was the reponse to preposterous hair metal.

And me.

Edwards No. 8 in Brum. Summer Solstice gig.

Nirvana were a bit crap, Tad was better....Mudhoney were ****ing ace.

Mudhoney were always the better of the grunge bands (apart from Screaming Trees)...Nirvana just hit the right sound at the right time...

I'm watching that too. Is it just me, or does Kurt's "biographer" sound completely sanctinmonious, up himself and out of touch?

Crikey. I've always had a nagging feeling that the Unplugged album was a little bit industry-safe and saccharine. Didn't realise that it came so close to "the end", and Where Did You Sleep... is pretty chilling.
