How do I calculate the required nipple length for my wheel build? I can't find this information anywhere.

32 hole 27.5 carbon rims with double butted Sapim spokes 3 cross pattern.

Thanks.

It'll be 12mm or 14mm I'm sure, and if Sapim I believe their threads are the same length. Doubt it makes any difference, would be interested to hear if I am wrong about that.

You will usually get them with the spokes anyway...

I've always just bought 12mn as a rule, but as said, they usually come with the spokes.

Depends on your spoke length, longer nipple = shorter spoke. Most calculators say they are based on a 12mm nipple or you can input the ones you want to use.

Different brands of nipples have different threaded lengths so you can't generalize.

I think calcs are based on 12mm. Longer nipples are specialist items for use with deep rims etc.

Most spoke calculators work on 12mm as standard. Only time I've used longer is for deep section carbon rims or where I was doing a rebuild for someone with straight-pull spokes with only limited size spokes available.

Correct spoke length is correct spoke length, regardless of nipple length.
