Anyone know where I can get one from?
I've got a 2014 Air 9 rdo with the carbon niner fork. The crown race is part of the fork, but now I want to fit a set of 32s for the summer.
Or does anyone know another race that will fit?
Any help much appreciated!
The crown race from my Niner is currently fitted to my bouncy forks. The crown race from my Stumpy hardtail is currently fitted to some rigid forks. Sometimes I use the bouncy forks in the Stumpy with no problems, so I assume the Specialized and Niner have similar headsets.
What headset is it in the stumpy? Thanks
The one that came with it. The Niner headset is on the bench at the moment, there is nothing marked on it. I'll be dropping the fork out of Stumpy later so I'll compare the two, hopefully the Specialized one will have something marked on the bearings.
Just found the Niner Encyclopedia. Page 41 has all the headset specs.

You could just buy the bottom part of another headset, at least that's what I did. The outside of the 1.5'' bearing bevel is 45degrees regardless of the manufacturer.
The niner headset is integrated in the frames in the RDO so I can't.
I just need a race that is the right spec for that bearing.
Surely the bottom bearing can be pulled out of the frame... any other bearing and the corresponding crown race will fit in its place. You may have to persuade it a bit, but it should nonetheless come out.
This is the bottom of a JET 9 RDO headtube, but the AIR should be the same; the cups are molded into the frame and the bearings sit directly into them:
Niner website lists a replacement crown race for $10.
If its not a "special" crown race due to a deeply recessed bearing etc then another manufacturers 1.5" crown race may well work, check if its a 45* bearing.

The bearings sit in the carbon mould directly. That tells me the bearings aren't changeable for a different type so I need a race to fit that bearing.
I know Niner website list one, but they wont ship to the UK.
So basically, I'm asking does anyone know where I can buy a crown race that fits that type of bearing in the UK?
