Interesting bike, is it really short or is it just the first photo that makes it look that way?

Also, nice to see a Roox Roller-Coaster making a comeback!

It's nice. I was browsing the Nicolai website the other day (unto herself saw me and told me to forget it). Perhaps this is the place to ask...why do they write the letters backwards?

Lovely looking bike, interested in one of these myself. Is that a large frame then? How tall are you?

It's an Xl frame, with the seatube cut down by 75mm

In 6ft 3 but have short legs so I run a shorter seatube.

I have one. Spend too much time wondering how to somehow get another one.

Backwoods letters? It looks right when you look at your reflection in the shop widows as you ride past. 8)

I've just acquired an old Nicolai frame at a bike jumble - was determined not to buy anything, was there to sell, but stopped to admire the pretty welding and one thing led to another ๐Ÿ˜‰

Why the double chain guide thing? The upper wheel makes sense for more chain wrap/chain security, but why the second one 'unwrapping' it slightly from the sprocket?

It's a sprung tensioner to accommodate chain growth. A bit like a rear mech but at the front

As someone who is running a singlespeed full suspension, it looks like the chain could be a couple of links shorter to start with

I saw a very nice looking Eighteen Bikes custom frame with Pinion gearbox in their shop window in Hope last weekend. I wanted to give them the third degree all about it, but they were very tied up selling a Santa Cruz to someone so I went for coffee and cake, and carried on with my hike.

The letters are backwards because the person who did the original artwork forgot to reverse them, to counteract the fact that the printing process reverses the letters. By the time they realised, the cost of replacing 10,000 stickers was prohibitive, so they just pretended to be trendy and used them anyway.

If you believe that, you'll believe anything, as simply printing it backwards would actually spell 'ialocin'.

(well, the bit about being trendy may be right)
